Coping With Exam Stress

The exam season is upon us and I can tell everyone is just over excited by this time of year. I did my GCSEs last year so I know what it's like for all them year 11s out there who are most likely pulling their hair out. I just want to share a few remedies and ways that can help reduce exam stress!

Don't revise 24/7
Trying to revise all day won't help you! You need to take regular breaks, even if you're just going to make a drink or something. 20 minutes away from a textbook won't hurt. It will give your brain time to relax and focus on something else.

Don't cram information
It's proven that last minute cramming isn't always useful. I tried to cram before exams last year and to be honest it didn't help me in most cases. Cramming can stress you out and put more pressure on you. I find putting away the revision guides can reduce the stress slightly. If you've revised before hand you shouldn't worry.

Have time away from the textbooks
Last year I took a lot of baths where I'd just listen to music and relax. This year I've done a lot of baking! Find other activities to do, because going out once in a while won't ruin your grades. You deserve a break from revision.

SLEEP
Sleeping is so important during the exam period! I suffered with Insomnia last year and I rarely slept over the exam period which made me very stressed and upset. I got very ill. This year I've slept really well and I have felt the benefit. Trying to revise when you're tired feels like a chore and quiet frankly your brain will be overload and won't take much in because you NEED SLEEP!

Try and be happy!
Keep your mood up because what's coming up after the exams...THE SUMMER!

Finally....GOOD LUCK!
